Ty served as an Army Infantry Officer in tactical assignments worldwide from 1989 to 2003, completing nearly 24 years of active duty service. In his final Army assignment, he served at the Army's Infantry Combat Development Center, located at Fort Benning, Georgia as a senior procurement program manager.
As Chief, Soldier Systems Division he was responsible for 172 individual procurement programs, and the management of a five year materials procurement budget totaling over $700 million dollars. During this time he was, responsible for the management and direction of Soldier procurement programs such as the life saving Interceptor Body Armor (IBA), Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH), the Army's next generation tactical parachute, the new Soldier as a System (SaaS) program and many others.
Ty retired from the military in 2003 and has since gone on to a very successful civilian career. In his first job as Product Manager, helmets systems, he quickly developed marketing and production strategies that increased monthly product manufacturing from five thousand helmets to 18 thousand helmets, resulting in his division's annual revenue growing from $12 million dollars to nearly $137 million dollars in only 22 months.
As corporate VP of Strategic Growth, Ty devised a 12 month plan, established new strategic partnerships and revamped a failing marketing and distribution strategy that resulted in $34 million dollars of revenue previously tied up in $41 million dollars of corporate back orders.
Because of his success, Ty was offered an Executive position as VP, Business Developments, North America. In his new position, Ty quickly discovered and developed new business opportunities and business relationships that resulted in annual North American sales growth from $5 million dollars in 2006, to $57 million dollars at the end of 2008. His actions and successes directly contributed to the December, 2008 sale of the company by its investors for $230 million dollars in; a 347% increase over the purchased value in 2003.
Ty holds a BA in Business Communications and an MBA in Operations Management (with marketing concentration). He has nearly thirty years of program management, budget management, project management, executive management and leadership experience.
Ty is married with two children. He is a part-time writer of film scripts and volunteers his time with The Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing relief and aid to severely injured Soldiers of the War on Terror.
